งานเลี้ยงครบรอบวันเกิดปีที่ 65 ของ ท่านผู้หญิงอุ่นเรือน รัตนวงศ์วรรณ (ดวงตา ตุงคะมณี) ถูกจัดขึ้นอย่างสมเกียรติ ลูกๆ ทั้ง 5 คน ก็ล้วนแต่เป็นบุคคลที่มีชื่อเสียงโด่งดังในวงสังคม ต่างพาครอบครัวมากันพร้อมหน้าพร้อมตา แต่มันก็เป็นเพียงวันเดียวเท่านั้นที่ท่านผู้หญิงมีความสุข อบอุ่นไปด้วยลูกและหลานๆ

ในที่สุดท่านผู้หญิงก็ทนอยู่แบบเหงาๆ อย่างนี้ต่อไปไม่ได้ จึงคิดแผนการเด็ดขึ้นมาเพื่อมัดมือชกลูกๆ ของตัวเอง กับ 'โครงการปีเดียว เดี๋ยวก็รวย’ ซึ่งมี บดินทร์ (อ้วน-รังสิต ศิรานานนท์) ลูกชายบุญธรรมที่เพิ่งเรียนจบจากเมืองนอก และกลับมาคอยอยู่ข้างๆ ดูแลท่านผู้หญิง เพื่อเป็นการตอบแทนบุญคุณ เป็นคนช่วยส่งเมล์แผนการฉบับนี้ไปถึงลูกๆ นั่นเอง กับกติกาที่ว่า จะต้องส่งหลานๆ มาอยู่ที่บ้านตระกูลรัตนวงศ์วรรณครอบครัวละ 1 คน โดยต้องอยู่ให้ครบ 1 ปีเต็ม หากหลานคนไหนทำได้ รับไปเลย มรดกพันล้าน!!! ของท่านผู้หญิงอุ่นเรือน แต่มีข้อแม้ว่า จะได้เพียงคนเดียวเท่านั้น

Kumar Aaman at the RoS's office in Putrajaya.Kumar Aaman started his hunger strike at about 2 pm yesterday to protest against ROS's decision which he received on Monday stating his appointment as MIC secretary-general was invalid. Tengku Adnan added that the action of Kumar Aaman would not affect the image of the BN.He was speaking to reporters after launching the Putrajaya Primary and Secondary Schools Tahsin Iqra and Tahfiz programme at Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in Putrajaya today.He said he also hoped the registrar would clearly explain the provisions of the law under its purview so that the action would not be seen as biased.MIC deputy president Datuk Seri Dr S. ก่อนที่เราจะลงทุนทำธุรกิจอะไรขึ้นมาสักอย่าง เราควรวางแผนการใช้จ่ายเงินอย่างไรให้มีความคุ้มค่ามากที่สุด การลงทุนแบบไหนฟุ่มเฟือยเกินไป ?

เคยสงสัยกันบ้างไหมว่า ก่อนที่เราจะลงทุนทำธุรกิจอะไรขึ้นมาสักอย่าง เราควรวางแผนการใช้จ่ายเงินอย่างไรให้มีความคุ้มค่ามากที่สุด การลงทุนแบบไหนฟุ่มเฟือยเกินไป แล้วจะซื้ออุปกรณ์อย่างไรให้พอดีกับความจำเป็น หรือกำลังทำธุรกิจอยู่ แต่ไม่ต้องการใช้จ่ายเงินแบบผิดจุด เพราะอาจส่งผลให้ธุรกิจเสียหลักหรือต้องปิดกิจการไป สำหรับใครที่กำลังคิดแบบนั้นอยู่ลองดู (อ่าน) บทความดีๆ ที่เรียบเรียงจาก Mark Evans ผู้เขียนบทความในเว็บไซต์ Forbes กันดีกว่าว่า ผู้ประกอบการมือใหม่ต้องระมัดระวังการใช้จ่ายในช่วงเริ่มต้นตรงจุดใดกันบ้าง เพื่อให้สามารถวางแผนการใช้เงินได้อย่างรัดกุมมากยิ่งขึ้น

1. งานเลี้ยง

ผู้ประกอบการที่เพิ่งเริ่มต้นธุรกิจ อาจมองเรื่องการซื้อใจพนักงานด้วยงานเลี้ยง ปาร์ตี้ตามผับ เหล้าเบียร์เต็มที่ไม่อั้น ซึ่งงานเลี้ยงสังสรรค์กับพนักงานเป็นเรื่องที่ดี ทำให้คนในบริษัทสนิทกันได้มากขึ้น แต่อย่าให้บ่อยมากนัก และควรจำกัดงบไม่ให้บานปลาย ไม่เช่นนั้นเงินของบริษัทคุณจะไหลออกไปเรื่อยๆ โดยไม่จำเป็น และผิดวัตถุประสงค์ด้านการลงทุนอย่างแรง

2. การประชุมหรือสัมมนา

เรื่องการประชุมเองก็เป็นสิ่งที่ดี เพราะจะทำให้คุณสามารถเชื่อมความสัมพันธ์กับคู่ค้านักลงทุน หรืออาจเป็นงานสัมมนาที่ให้ความรู้ด้านต่างๆ แก่ผู้ประกอบการด้วยก็ได้เช่นกันแต่คุณควรเลือกการประชุมหรืองานสัมมนาที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อธุรกิจของตัวเอง ไม่ใช่มาเข้าร่วมเพราะเพื่อนมากันเยอะ มาร่วมเพราะน่าสนุก เพราะเมื่อคุณเป็นผู้ประกอบการ เวลาทุกนาทีนั้นมีค่ามหาศาลต่อธุรกิจของตัวเอง ที่สำคัญงานอบรมหรือสัมมนาหลายๆ งานก็เสียค่าใช้จ่ายด้วย การเข้าร่วมโดยไม่คำนึงถึงประโยชน์ ย่อมทำให้เสียทั้งเงินและเวลาโดยเปล่าประโยชน์

3. อุปกรณ์ทำงานมือหนึ่ง สภาพใหม่เอี่ยม

ไม่จำเป็นเลยว่าอุปกรณ์ทำงานของคุณต้องเป็นมือหนึ่ง มีสภาพใหม่เอี่ยม ไม่ว่าจะเป็นคอมพิวเตอร์ รถยนต์ เครื่องชงกาแฟราคานับแสน ฯลฯ เพียงแค่มองหาคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ใช้งานได้ ไม่ตกรุ่น รถยนต์ที่ขนส่งสินค้าได้อย่างปลอดภัย ประหยัดน้ำมัน หรือเครื่องชงกาแฟสภาพดี ตอบโจทย์กลุ่มลูกค้าของเราได้ก็เพียงพอแล้ว การใช้ของใหม่ ดี มือหนึ่ง ไม่ใช่ตัวการันตีให้ธุรกิจประสบความสำเร็จ หรือทำให้ลูกค้าตัดสินใจซื้อสินค้าหรือบริการ เพราะมันเป็นเพียงแค่ส่วนหนึ่งเท่านั้น นอกจากนั้น ควรลิสต์รายชื่อสิ่งของที่ต้องซื้อให้พอดีกับความจำเป็นในการทำธุรกิจ ไม่ควรซื้อมามากเกินความจำเป็น

4. ออฟฟิศหรือร้านค้าสุดหรูหรา

สำหรับผู้ประกอบการที่ยังไม่มีเงินลงทุนมากนัก อาจมองหาของตกแต่งเท่าที่จำเป็น ซื้อเฟอร์นิเจอร์มือสอง แต่ผู้ประกอบการบางคนที่มีเงินมหาศาลกลับลงทุนตกแต่งออฟฟิศหรือร้านค้าจนหรูหราน่าอยู่เกินความจำเป็น จำไว้เลยว่าสิ่งนั้นแทบไม่ก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์อะไรเลย แถมผลเสียสำคัญที่สุดคือทำให้เงินของคุณ “จม” ซึ่งคุณควรเก็บไว้เป็นเงินหมุนเวียนทางธุรกิจมากกว่าอุดรอยรั่วของคุณให้ครบทั้ง 4 ข้อ ก็จะช่วยให้การใช้จ่ายเงินลงทุนของคุณมีความปลอดภัยมากยิ่งขึ้น ที่สำคัญอย่าลืมทำบัญชีรายรับรายจ่ายเพื่อนำมาพิจารณาค่าใช้จ่ายที่ไม่จำเป็นหรือจุดไหนที่สูงเกินความจำเป็น

Even in an election, if one person leads by one vote, he is declared the winner," said Zainul.He was referring to the four judges who sat on the Federal Court's seven-member panel that had dismissed the church's leave application in June last year.In 2009, the High Court had declared that the decision by the home minister to ban Herald from using the word “Allah" was illegal, null and void.The church, led by the then Kuala Lumpur Archdiocese Archbishop Emeritus Tan Sri Murphy Pakiam, had filed a judicial review application, naming the minister and the government as respondents.High Court judge Lau Bee Lan had declared it unconstitutional to ban non-Muslims from using the word “Allah" provided it was not used to propagate their religion among Muslims.But on October 14, 2013, the then Court of Appeal judge, Tan Sri Mohamad Apandi Ali, allowed the government's appeal against the High Court decision, and held that the government had not violated the church’s constitutional rights."It is our common finding that the name 'Allah’ was not an integral part of the Christian faith and practice," he had said.A seven-member panel of Federal Court judges on June 23, 2014, dismissed the church's application for leave to appeal the Court of Appeal's decision.Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria was among the four on the panel who dismissed the church's application, while three other judges dissented.The other judges in the majority decision were Tan Sri Raus Shariff, Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinuddin and Tan Sri Suriyadi Halim Omar.The dissenting judges were Tan Sri Richard Malanjum, Tan Sri Jeffrey Tan Kok Hwa and Datuk Zainun Ali.Today, the five-member panel of Federal Court judges dismissed the Catholic Church's review application of the Federal Court's decision not to grant leave, marking the end of the Church's long battle to use the word "Allah" in its newsweekly.Malaysia's battle over the use of the word "Allah" has attracted international attention, as well as ridicule, including from Islamic scholars abroad who hold that "Allah" is a generic name for God and has been used by both Muslims and non-Muslims, as the word predates Islam. – January 21, 2015.

เวทีการประกวดร้องเพลงชิงถ้วยพระราชทานจากพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวฯ “เคพีเอ็น อวอร์ด ครั้งที่ 24″ ก็เปิดแถลงข่าวแล้ว โดยปีนี้ย้ายมาออกอากาศทางช่อง 3 อีกครั้งในรอบ 9 ปี

กติกาปริศนาฟ้าแลบ

ในการแข่งขันแต่ละครั้งจะมีผู้เข้าแข่งขัน 2 ทีม ทีมละ 3 คน ประกอบไปด้วยดารา-นักแสดง 2 คน และผู้แข่งขันจากทางบ้านอีก 1 คน ผู้เข้าแข่งขันทั้ง 2 ทีมจะต้องส่งตัวแทนทีมละ 1 คนออกมาแข่งตอบคำถามภายในเวลา 2 นาที ซึ่งคำถามที่ทั้ง 2 คนจะต้องตอบนั้นเป็นคำถามชุดเดียวกัน โดยคนที่ยังไม่ได้เล่นจะต้องไปเก็บตัวนอกห้องส่งเพื่อไม่ให้ได้ยินคำถาม-คำตอบในชุดนั้น ส่วนคนที่ตอบคำถามจะต้องขึ้นไปนั่งบนเก้าอี้ล่อฟ้า ซึ่งเก้าอี้จะเลื่อนขึ้นทุกครั้งที่ตอบถูก และตกลงมาที่จุดเริ่มต้นทุกครั้งที่ตอบผิด โดยจะยึดคำตอบแรกที่ผู้แข่งขันตอบออกมาเป็นหลัก คนที่ตอบคำถามได้ถูกต้องติดต่อกันมากกว่าจะเป็นฝ่ายชนะในรอบนั้น (ในกรณีที่คะแนนในรอบนั้นเสมอ จะไม่มีทีมไหนได้คะแนนในรอบนั้น) ทีมไหนชนะได้ 3 ครั้งก่อนจะกลายเป็นแชมป์ และมีสิทธิเข้ารอบ Jackpot ต่อไป

ทั้งนี้ หากผู้แข่งขันคนใดคนหนึ่งในทีมสามารถตอบคำถามได้ถูกต้องติดต่อกัน 10 ข้อ จะได้รับเงินรางวัล 100,000 บาทจาก AIS 3G 2100 ซึ่งเป็นผู้สนับสนุนหลัก และถึอว่าทีมนั้นเป็นแชมป์ทันทีเช่นกัน

 

รอบ Jackpot

ทุกครั้งที่ได้เป็นแชมป์ ทีมแชมป์จะได้สิทธิเล่นเกมในรอบ Jackpot 1 ครั้ง หากเล่นเกมชนะ 1 ครั้งจะได้รับสายฟ้าไปสะสม หากทีมแชมป์สามารถเก็บสะสมสายฟ้าได้ครบ 3 สายฟ้า จะได้รับรถยนต์ Toyota Corolla Altis Esport มูลค่า 899,000 บาททันที และทีมแชมป์สามารถเล่นเกมต่อเนื่อง หรือหยุดพักให้ทีมอื่นแข่งกันก่อน แล้วกลับมาแข่งต่อเมื่อพร้อมก็ได้

กติกาแบบแรก
พิธีกรจะถามคำถาม 1 ข้อ ผู้แข่งขันทั้ง 3 คนจะต้องตอบคำถามเรียงกันทีละคน คนละ 1 คำตอบภายในเวลา 5 วินาที โดยที่ผู้แข่งขันสามารถตอบคำถามได้เรื่อย ๆ จนกว่าจะได้คำตอบที่ถูกต้องและไม่ซ้ำกับที่เคยตอบไปแล้ว ถ้าหากหมดเวลาแล้ว ผู้แข่งขันยังตอบคำถามไม่ได้ เกมจะยุติลงทันที ทั้งนี้ ในทีมของผู้แข่งขันมีสิทธิข้ามได้ 1 ครั้ง ใครจะสามารถใช้สิทธิข้ามก็ได้ และสามารถใช้ได้แม้ไม่ใช่ในรอบการตอบของตัวเอง โดยเมื่อข้ามแล้ว รอบการตอบจะเป็นของผู้แข่งขันคนถัดไป หากสามารถทำได้ครบ 20 คำตอบจะได้รับ 1 สายฟ้า

กติกาแบบที่สอง
ตั้งแต่วันที่ 24 มิถุนายน 2557 มีการเปลี่ยนกติการอบ Jackpot คือ พิธีกรจะถามคำถาม 1 ข้อ ผู้แข่งขันทั้ง 3 คนจะต้องตอบคำถามให้ได้ 20 คำตอบ ภายในเวลา 1 นาที โดยผู้เล่นที่จะตอบคำถามจะต้องขึ้นมาบนเวที เอามือแตะเสาล่อฟ้าถึงจะมีสิทธิตอบ โดยสามารถตอบกี่คำตอบก็ได้ และสามารถแตะมือเปลี่ยนตัวเพื่อนร่วมทีมด้านล่างขึ้นมาตอบคำถามแทนได้เช่นกัน หากสามารถทำได้ครบ 20 คำตอบก่อนเวลาหมดจะได้รับ 1 สายฟ้า

Former home minister Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar today denied sending any letter unilaterally to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, but said it is the right of the home minister to do so. – The Malaysian Insider file pic, January 23, 2015.Another former home minister has denied sending letters unilaterally to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), after current minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said his action of sending a letter to clear gambling kingpin Paul Phua was nothing new.Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar, who was home minister from 2008 to 2009, said while it was common for governments to write letters to one another, he had never written to any other foreign agency."Letters to foreign governments are common, but I have never written to any agency. I am a policymaker."But writing letters is a right as a minister. But, during my time, probably there was no such case and I don't remember writing to the FBI or to any other agency," he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur.Besides Syed Hamid, another former home minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, has also denied having letters sent unilaterally to the FBI.Hishammuddin succeeded Syed Hamid, who is now the Land Public Transport Commission chairman.Zahid took over from Hishammuddin in 2013.Last week, he said he had the authority to send letters to the FBI, adding that his predecessor had done likewise but did not state who."The minister before me had also issued a clarification letter based on the authority given to the position. PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang opposed the third vote, saying it would drive a deeper wedge between ethnic groups and widen the urban-rural divide, meanwhile DAP and PKR have both listed the third vote as part of their manifesto in 2013. – The Malaysian Insider file pic, January 23, 2015.Those who oppose local government elections are against democracy, lawyer and former Petaling Jaya city councillor Derek Fernandez said, adding that refusal to restore the third vote was linked to party patronage, power and control – the cost of which the rakyat ended up paying for."In the end, the parties in power want to totally control local governments which is seen as a valuable tool to promote individual interest of party members, or their patrons, and to provide rewards to members for party support," he told The Malaysian Insider.Fernandez, whose specialty is local government law, said local councils were actually a third-tier government that exercised huge powers over the people and had the authority to levy taxes on ratepayers.As such, elections for their office bearers were necessary to keep local councils transparent and accountable to the public."However, the present structure purports to treat them as departments or agencies of the Federal government like in the case of City Hall and state governments, respectively, in the case of other local governments," he added."(To have credibility and accountability,) nothing less than local government elections is required, not only for City Hall, but all local governments," the lawyer said.The topic of local government elections is in the news again as opposition allies PAS and DAP spar over the matter, with DAP reviving its call for the third vote to be restored after it was abolished in 1976.The Islamist PAS, however, has long been against local council elections. Its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang today said the third vote would drive a deeper wedge between ethnic groups and widen the urban-rural divide, as those who stood to benefit more were non-Malays who mostly lived in urban areas.Hadi even evoked the specter of the May 13, 1969 race riots in rejecting the DAP's call for local council elections.In 2008, only DAP and PKR listed bringing back the third vote as a promise in their election manifestos for the general election held that year.DAP's strength has long been in urban seats, while the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition as whole performed better in urban areas, winning 87% of urban seats compared to the Barisan Nasional's 13% in the 2013 general elections.Meanwhile, DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke said he was shocked that Hadi would turn the issue into a racial matter, when the issue at stake was democracy.Loke also said Hadi was wrong in saying that only urban dwellers would benefit from local council elections. Neither was it true that urban areas today were populated by the Chinese alone."It is not true to say that urban areas are dominated by one race only. It is not like before, there are many races and not just the Chinese. There are some parts of cities where Malays are the majority," Loke told The Malaysian Insider."It is not logical to say that in local council election, the Chinese will dominate in the local council. We want the right to vote to be returned to the ratepayers and the people," he added.Reacting to Hadi, Persatuan Kesedaran Komuniti Selangor (Empower) executive director Maria Chin Abdullah said ratepayers must be given the right to elect who should represent them."Such democratic election in the third tier of the government is important to express the will of the people," she said.Without them, a fundamental principle of democracy that there should be “no taxation without representation" was ignored.She said by appointing local councillors, state governments were effectively saying “we know what is best for you, and we will make the choices for you".Local government elections were held in major towns until it was suspended in 1965, and abolished in 1976.Maria, whose association Empower is among 47 non-governmental organisations that make the Coalition for Good Governance, said civil society had also been pushing for the third vote to be reintroduced."There is no logic in doing away with election of local councillors to manage local issues when there are polls to elect state and Federal governments," Maria said, adding that Hadi missed the point by raising the possibility of racial tension.She seconded Fernandez and agreed that appointments and positions in the local council were closely tied to the parties in power and were often meant to serve as part of the patronage mechanism.She also said appointed councillors were not accountable to the people for the money spent.There are 144 local councils in Malaysia with a combined expenditure of more than RM13 billion.Maria added that there was a lack of transparency in how council matters were discussed and decided upon.Last week, Penang Institute fellow Dr Wong Chin Huat told a forum on the topic that there was no difference between Putrajaya and the mafia as far as Kuala Lumpur’s ratepayers were concerned, since taxes were being paid without representation."Kuala Lumpur does not have state elections. The City Hall Mayor is appointed by the federal government in Putrajaya."Ratepayers are not represented. They are merely paying taxes in return for services. This is akin to the mafia, which collected money in return for services," Wong had said at a forum titled “Why the need for elections in Kuala Lumpur?"Wong said the current administration ran Kuala Lumpur like its own "fiefdom", never consulting the residents for their thoughts, opinions or feedback."There is no accountability, although Kuala Lumpur has the third largest budget allocation behind Sabah and Sarawak," Wong had said. – January 23, 2015.

We don't know when he will be discharged, but it's important that he gets the proper treatment and enough rest," he told reporters when met at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian today.He said his father had also been informed about the passing of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah Abdul Aziz and responded by asking questions about the king's death.Meanwhile, PAS deputy spiritual leader Datuk Dr Haron Din said Nik Aziz could still remember him despite being ill."I was also told that he was taken off respiratory support," he told reporters after spending 15 minutes visiting Nik Aziz.The PAS spiritual leader, who is also suffering from prostate cancer, was admitted last Monday after his health deteriorated during the recent floods.Nik Aziz, 84, also held the post of Kelantan menteri besar from 1990 to 2013. – January 2015.

B. Supriyadi, a rescue agency official coordinating the search, told AFP.He said bad weather later in the day hampered further efforts to check if there were bodies inside.Rescuers have been trying in vain to reach the main body of the Airbus A320-200 since it was spotted on the seabed by a military vessel last week, but have been rebuffed by difficult conditions.Officials hope the majority of the victims will be inside the fuselage, and plan a more thorough assessment of the wreckage to determine how to retrieve the bodies.The four bodies found today were located among debris near the wreckage.A total of 63 bodies have been found so far, Supriyadi said.Divers recovered six bodies yesterday, some still strapped into their seats, near the main section of the plane.The jet's black boxes – the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder – were recovered last week, and investigators are analysing them.Indonesian transport minister Ignasius Jonan said this week that the plane climbed abnormally fast before stalling and plunging into the sea.Just moments before the plane disappeared off the radar, the pilot had asked to climb to avoid a major storm but was not immediately granted permission due to heavy air traffic. – AFP, January 23, 2015.

Kementerian Pengangkutan hari ini memutuskan individu yang ingin mengambil lesen memandu kereta dan motosikal kini hanya
perlu menduduki satu ujian undang-undang sahaja.

Menteri Pengangkutan Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai berkata keputusan berkenaan dibuat selepas kerajaan mengambil kira pelbagai rungutan daripada pihak institut memandu.

"Ketika ini, mereka yang ingin mengambil lesen kereta dan motosikal perlu mempelajari modul kereta dan modul motosikal berasingan serta menduduki dua ujian berasingan.

"Selepas menerima rungutan, kita putuskan mereka kini perlu mempelajari kedua-dua modul itu berasingan, namun, hanya perlu menduduki hanya satu ujian sahaja," katanya kepada pemberita selepas melawat pejabat Jabatan Pengangkutan
Jalan (JPJ) cawangan Muar.

Liow berkata pihaknya sudah meminta Ketua Pengarah JPJ untuk mengeluarkan arahan berkenaan kepada semua institut memandu dan diharapkan keputusan berkenaan dapat memudahkan golongan muda mendapatkan lesen memandu masing-masing.

Sementara itu, Liow berkata usaha mencari pesawat Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Penerbangan MH370 di selatan Lautan Hindi sudah meliputi 15,000 kilometer persegi daripada 60,000 kilometer persegi kawasan pencarian.

Beliau berkata usaha pencarian pesawat yang hilang pada 8 Mac tahun lepas itu diharap dapat diselesaikan pada Mei ini sekiranya terdapat penambahan kapal.

Mengenai lawatan ke pejabat JPJ berkenaan, Liow berkata kerajaan meluluskan peruntukan RM14 juta bagi membina bangunan tiga tingkat di pejabat itu bagi menggantikan bangunan lama yang musnah dalam kebakaran pada tahun 2006.

Beliau berharap dengan pembinaan bangunan itu, ia dapat meningkatkan kecekapan perkhidmatan JPJ kepada orang ramai di sekitar kawasan berkenaan.

บางระจันย้อนหลัง - ขณะที่ ทัพ (พงศกร เมตตาริกานนท์) ได้รับการปล่อยตัวจาก เสือปิ่น (ไชย ขุนศรีรักษา) และกำลังควบม้าเพื่อตามมาช่วย เฟื่อง (กัญญ์ณรัณ วงศ์ขจรไกล) กับ จวง (สาวิตรี สุทธิชานนท์) ที่ถูก ขาบ (ฐกฤต ตวันพงค์) กับ สังข์ (ปรมะ อิ่มอโนทัย) จับตัวไป แต่ฟากของเฟื่องกลับไม่อาจยื้อความรักของขาบที่มีต่อตนได้อีกต่อไป เพราะขณะที่ขาบถูกทหารอังวะฟันจนบาดเจ็บ และพักฟื้นอยู่ในกระท่อมกลางป่าใกล้กับกองคาราวานของสังข์ ด้วยความหวังดีเฟื่องจึงตามหาขาบจนพบ แต่ก็ถูกขาบใช้กำลังจนเฟื่องตกเป็นขอบขาบ เมื่อทหารอังวะบุกเข้าโจมตีกองคาราวาน เฟื่องกับจวงกำลังถูกทหารอังวะข่มเหง ทัพก็เข้ามาช่วยไว้ ก่อนจะช่วยขาบจากเรือนที่กำลังถูกไฟไหม้ และช่วยสังข์ต่อสู้กับทหารอังวะ ทำให้สังข์กับขาบซึ้งน้ำใจทัพ และสำนึกได้ ส่วนเฟื่องเมื่อได้พบกับทัพ ก็ไม่สามารถแสดงความรักกับทัพได้อีกต่อไป เพราะได้ชื่อว่าเป็นเมียของขาบแล้ว เมื่อเห็นอาการของเฟื่องและจวง ที่เป็นห่วงขาบและสังข์ ทัพก็รู้แก่ใจว่าได้สูญเสียคนรักของตนไปแล้ว จึงตัดใจและจับมือคืนดีกับเพื่อนรักอย่างสังข์และขาบหันหน้าต่อสู้กับทหารอังวะจนชนะ

UM deputy vice-chancellors removed for being too lenient, pro-opposition, say sources

Universiti Malaya has yet to appoint a new deputy vice-chancellor in charge of academic affairs. – January 23, 2015.The country's oldest university, Universiti Malaya (UM), is set to lose another renowned academic and re-open the debate on the lack of academic freedom in Malaysian institutions after Putrajaya refused to extend the contract of a bright and upcoming professor, allegedly because he did not support Umno, the ruling Malay party in the federal government, a source has revealed.Deputy vice-chancellor (academic and international) Professor Dr Mohd Hamdi Abd Shukor, will not be getting an extension on his contract, while another deputy vice-chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Rohana Yusof, who is in charge of student affairs, is set to be replaced for being too lenient with students, the source from the university said.Hamdi's three-year contract as vice-chancellor ended on December 31 last year and he is now an ordinary lecturer at UM's Faculty of Engineering. However, he is expected to take a sabbatical soon.“I understand that the Education Ministry did not approve the extension of my contract after my name was submitted by UM," Hamdi told The Malaysian Insider when contacted.Three weeks after he vacated the office, UM has yet to appoint a new deputy vice-chancellor in charge of academic affairs.Meanwhile, Rohana is said to be replaced over recent incidents involving student and academic freedom."UM will get a deputy vice chancellor in charge of student affairs who is stricter," said the source, noting that under Rohana’s watch, students had forced their way past the campus gates on October 27 last year to carry out a banned talk featuring opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.Under Rohana, students had also gathered on campus in November last year to protest the disciplinary action taken against eight of their peers who had organised the talk.UM, founded in 1949, has long been a nurturing ground for student leaders, some of whom today are ministers, politicians and leaders in society. But appointments of university heads, or vice-chancellors, are made by the federal government.The source noted that Hamdi had a stellar track record and is ranked among the university's youngest and brightest after being promoted to a full professor in 2010 at the age of 39, while serving as the Head of UM's Department of Engineering.Hamdi, who hails from Muar, Johor, is a fellow with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (United Kingdom) and a chartered engineer registered with the UK Engineering Council."Even though he has an excellent track record, including in administrative matters, and is among the best, his tenure will not be extended," said the source, adding that it was a huge loss for UM."Professor Hamdi's potential is enormous."The source blamed the current vice-chancellor for being too weak and subservient to Umno."There is no room for differences of opinion as being a supporter of Umno is now the main criteria," said the source.UM may also lose Professor Datuk Dr Redhuan Othman if it chooses not to re-hire him once he retires in March. His looming retirement was given as the reason his tenure as Dean for the Faculty of Arts and Science was not extended after his term ended in June last year.Last year, Redhuan was removed as director of Universiti Malaya's Centre for Democracy and Elections (UMcedel) after his research left the ruling parties unhappy."It is unfortunate if this happens because Redhuan has proven he is an excellent professor, including producing the most number of PhD graduates in the last convocation."Given UM's trend of hiring retired professors, as well as the fact that his services are needed, this issue may not arise."Besides, all the deans and many professors who were recently retired have continued working for the university," said the source.UM had recently reappointed the director of the Research Centre for Malay Excellence, Professor Datuk  Dr Yaacob Harun, following his retirement.The director of UM's Centre for Continuing Education (UMCCed) Profesor Datuk Dr Mansor Mat Isa was also reappointed despite having retired.UM has been plagued with problems since the Education Ministry announced the appointment of Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin as the new vice-chancellor of UM.He was seen as having failed to stand up for his staff when associate professor Dr Azmi Sharom was charged with sedition last year over his comments on the Perak constitutional crisis.There were also rumblings of unhappiness when the former president of the elected student body, Fahmi Zainol, was suspended for two semesters for organising the talk featuring Anwar. Some felt UM had been too partisan in handling the affair.Complaints centred around the fact that UM had allowed Umno leaders on campus to give speeches and meet students, but the same courtesy was not extended to Anwar, a UM alumni and opposition leader.Amin is said to be weak and unable to protect his staff and the interests of UM since taking over the position from Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ghauth Jasmon on November 2013.Ghauth was known for fiercely protecting his academic staff from political interference.His firm stance had allowed UM to enjoy academic freedom during his time at the helm of the university. – January 23, 2015.
